We are looking to add First Responders and upgrading our Computer Security System but to do these critical features requires cuts or delays to other areas such as Police, Fire and Street Repairs or Maintenance.
How does the levy limit impact your community's budgeting practices and finances, eg, your amount of borrowing? Chilton remains very budget and borrowing conscious but we have two major road projects that are way past due and need to be done. Without some changes to the levy limit system, it will force us to borrow more to complete projects.
How does the levy limit impact your community's staffing levels and employee compensation? Our staffing is pretty minimal and cut to the limit. Anything else you'd like to say regarding the impact of levy limits on your community? The State and County's need to stay out of the budgeting policies of smaller communities. We don't need the County or State pushing unfunded mandates or restrictions on us.
