Connect with peers from across the state to learn the latest and best practices for building inspection services.  Continuing education credits available through the Department of Safety & Professional Services.  Intended audience is building inspectors and those involved in building inspection.

Chief Executives Workshop

Join peers from across the state to learn the latest and best practices for leading and managing municipalities.  Two events are offered annually.  A new winter webinar & the long-standing summer Chief Executives Workshop.   Intended audience is mayors, managers, and administrators.

Clerks, Treasurers & Finance Officers Institute

Calling all Clerks, Treasurers, Finance Officers and anyone else interested in professional development for clerks, treasurers, and finance officers.  Agenda is fresh each year, but often offers topics such as TIF/TID, Alcohol Licensing, Elections, etc.  This is your chance to network with peers & learn best practices from experts in the field.

Local Government 101:   Important Basics

Newly elected? Been serving a long time & need a refresher?  This is your chance to learn the basics & more in Local Government 101.  You’ll learn about city and village powers including municipal home rule, hear about how to recognize and avoid conflicts of interest, go home with a quick tutorial on municipal budgeting as well as how to run a meeting and finish with an overview on managing public works projects.  In addition, you’ll have that age-old question answered: “what is a walking quorum anyway?”

Municipal Attorneys Institute

You won’t want to miss this one!  The MAI has been around for almost 45 years and continues to get better every year!  Join your peers to learn best practices and earn CLE’s.  For attorneys, assistant attorneys and those providing legal services to municipalities.

Police & Fire Commission Workshop

For those involved in Police & Fire Commission work.  Topics include The Role of the Police & Fire Commission (PFC): Duties, Powers and Responsibilities as well as Selecting Police and Fire Personnel.
