How does the levy limit impact your community's services?    Over the years, reduced our police department from one full time officer and multiple part-time officers, to just two part-time officers which combined only work about 40 hours per month. Cut services/allowable hours worked in order to not have a budgetary deficit.

How does the levy limit impact your community's budgeting practices and finances, eg, your amount of borrowing?     Referendum needed for our local Fire Association's desire to build a new fire station. Also, cut services and maintenance needed in order to balance the budget without taking from reserve that is allocated for other purposes.

How does the levy limit impact your community's staffing levels and employee compensation?    No raises given in 2019 and only cost of living raises given (with a few exceptions). Moreover, the trend has been to select benefits that are less expensive, and less supportive, than previously.

Anything else you'd like to say regarding the impact of levy limits on your community?     Mandates by the DNR for repairs and replacement, coupled by the mandates by other state governmental agencies to delegate responsibility for many previously assisted reports and procedures is definitely increasing. For example, changes in how elections are handled and online reporting.
