Illegally Parked Vehicles & Dumpsters - City of Dodgeville

The Common Council of the City of Dodgeville, Wisconsin, do ordain as follows:

SECTION I

Section 7.08 of the Municipal Code of Dodgeville, Wisconsin is hereby repealed to be and read as follows:

7.08 REMOVAL OF ILLEGALLY PARKED VEHICLES AND DUMPSTERS.

(1) REMOVAL OF VEHICLES. Any vehicle parked or left standing upon a highway, street or alley or other public grounds in violation of any of the provisions of this chapter is declared to be a hazard to traffic and public safety. Such vehicle shall be removed by the operator, upon request of any police officer, to a position where parking, stopping, or standing is not prohibited. Any police officer, after issuing a citation for illegal parking, stopping or standing of an unattended vehicle in violation of this chapter, is authorized to remove such vehicle in violation of this chapter, is authorized to remove such vehicle to a position where parking is not prohibited. The officer may order a motor carrier holding a permit to perform vehicle towing services, a licensed motor vehicle salvage dealer or a licensed motor vehicle dealer who performs vehicle towing services to remove and store such vehicle in any storage garage or rental parking grounds or any facility of the person providing the towing services. In addition to other penalties provided by sec 7,15 of this chapter, the owner or operator of a vehicle so removed shall pay the cost of towing and storage.

(2) DUMPSTERS. It shall be unlawful to place any dumpster on any part of a public street in the City without first obtaining a permit for such placement from the City Clerk-Treasurer and paying the permit fee of $10.00. Permits shall be subject to approval by the Police Chief and shall be issued in the name of the property owner of the property where the dumpster is to be used. Permits shall be conditioned upon compliance by the permittee with such safety precautions and other conditions as shall be set forth in the permit. Failure to comply with the terms of the permit or failure to remove the dumpster upon expiration of the permit shall be grounds for the City to remove the dumpster from the public street and charge the permittee the reasonable costs of such removal, as well as any storage costs, in addition to other penalties provided by Sec. 7. 15 of this chapter.

SECTION II

This ordinance shall be in force following its adoption and publication as provided by law.

City of Dodgeville Dumpster Policy 2001

There shall be three dumpsters located at the City Garage.

These dumpsters shall be open from 7:00 A.M. until 9:00 A.M. and 1:30 P.M. until 3:30 P.M, or until they are full on the first and third Thursday of every month. These dumpsters; shall also be available on the last Saturday of each month from 8:00 AN until 1:00 P.M. or until they are full.

The use of these dumpsters shall be limited to City of Dodgeville residents.

Identification is required to permit use of the dumpsters.

Contractors and Commercial or Industrial users shall not be allowed to use these dumpsters to dispose of waste generated from their business.

Construction debris of any kind shall not be allowed in these dumpsters.

Grass clippings and leaves may be brought to the City Garage for disposal on the days noted above. They must be separate and clean from other garbage material, and may be disposed of in the area designated by the attendant.

Yard clippings, tree trimmings or other organic material will not be allowed in these dumpsters-

The City will pick brush up on the following days: September 4 and 17, October 1, 15, and 29, 2001.

Batteries, car parts, and appliances shall not be allowed in these dumpsters, these items can be disposed of during the City's Spring and Fall Clean Up days. A dumpster shall also be made available for these items on October 17 and 18, 2001 from 7:30 A.M. until 3:30 P.M. and October 20, 2001 from 9:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M.

Tires are not allowed in these dumpsters, these items may be disposed of at the Iowa County Clean Sweep to be held an June 22, 2001 from 8 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. at the Iowa County Quarry. Contact the Iowa County Health Department with questions at 935-2810.

Paint, oil and other chemicals are not allowed in these dumpsters, these items may also be disposed of during the Iowa County Clean Sweep. Contact the Iowa County Health Department with questions at 935-2810.

Please note that a log sheet shall be kept. This log shall document the type of material disposed of, the name of the person dropping off the material and the license number of the vehicle, The log shall also include the same documentation for rejected material.

Items and material rejected by the attendant shall be removed from premises.
